Wed May 19 Wed Alameda County HRC discusses same-gender marriage
On Wed. May 19, at 5:30 pm the ALAMEDA COUNTY HUMAN RIGHTS COMMITTEE
will vote on advising the County Supervisors to either approve or
disapprove recognizing same-gender marriage in ALAMEDA COUNTY. The HR
Committee is currently leaning AGAINST recognition of our same-sex
marriage. If you like, you can offer public testimony at the meeting.
The meeting will be held at the Hayward Alameda County Multi-Service
Bldg. across the street from the Alameda County Hayward Superior Court
Bldg. The Address is 24100 Amador, fust off of Winton Ave. Call Charlene

Sat May 15 Fundraiser for Fremont Diversity Training, 4 pm
The Fremont school district is holding a fund-raiser on Saturday at City
Beach to help pay for the district's recent and upcoming diversity
trainings. The event will include food, live music and the use of City
Beach's activities for children and adults, including basketball courts
and a rock-climbing wall. It begins at 4 p.m. and costs $15 for
students, $20 for adults, $35 for couples and $45 for families of up to
five people, with a charge of $8 for each additional family member.
Advance tickets may be purchased at City Beach, 4020 Technology Place,
or at the school district office, 4210 Technology Drive. Tickets also
will be available at the door.

Mission statement approved
The school board voted 5-0 to approve a mission statement for "human relations
and respect" to address students' anxiety about bullying in the wake of
the slaying of a local transgender teen.
When students and staff return to school after the holiday break Jan. 5, they will see posters in every room listing the committee-crafted standards. Among them is providing educational "opportunities" for its staff and diversity education for
